Make a difference in the lives of young people
living in Te Awa Kairangi

Every young person deserves someone they can turn to. For thousands of young people across the Hutt Valley, that someone is Vibe.

We provide free, accessible support for young people facing mental health challenges, family pressures, health concerns, addiction, and isolation. We help them access the right support at the right time, before challenges become crises.

With your help, we can ensure more young people feel connected, supported, and hopeful about their future. Because no young person should have to navigate life's challenges alone.

Our Ambassadors

Dr Lara Andrews

Dr Lara Andrews is a proud Petone local, softball captain, academic and mentor whose journey has taken her from the Hutt Valley to the United States and onto the international stage.

Lara captains the NZ White Sox and has represented NZ in more than 100 international tests. She was the first NZ woman to play professional softball in the United States. Alongside her sporting career, Lara completed a PhD in Youth Development at the University of Delaware (USA) and now lectures in Physical Activity and Wellbeing at Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington.

Whether she’s on the softball diamond, in the classroom or working with young people, Lara’s passion is the same: creating opportunities, building confidence and helping the next generation believe that their possibilities are bigger than they might think. Her own journey was shaped by people who believed in her and opened doors, and she is passionate about doing the same for others.

As a Vibe Lower Hutt ambassador, Lara is excited to give back to the community that helped shape who she is today, and to champion the people, opportunities and potential that make Lower Hutt such a special place to call home.
