Supporting young people to get into education, training or help them to find employment

Education, training and employment support

We support young people to get into education, training or help them to find employment.

We have a team of youth coaches who are keen to help young people with finding a course, supporting them through enrolment and while on their course. We also offer CV workshops, and help around applying for work.

This includes:

  • helping a young person work with a Youth Coach to set some goals for education or employment and to get support to make this plan happen

  • finding out where a young person can gain extra skills, training or work experience

  • encouraging them to attend the WORKshop programme, which can help them to develop their CV and learn job searching and interview skills.

Youth Service - NEET

Our team of NEET (Education, Employment and Training) Coaches work with young people aged 16 - 17 years old to provide one on one support and have regular catch ups to ensure that they are staying on track to achieve their goals.

They can support young people:

  • who wish to achieve their NCEA level 1 and 2

  • who would like some help to stay in school or get into a course to help prepare them for work OR

  • who know what they want to do when they are 18 but don’t know how to get there.

Youth Coaches can help young people work out a plan to help them achieve NCEA Level 1 and 2 either at school or in a course, and to manage their time with study and/or preparation for work.

You can find out more about the NEET service on the Work and Income website.
