Our Youth Coaches support young people with their finances, education, training and employment

 

Youth services (MSD)

At Vibe we have a team of Youth Coaches who support young people who are receiving a Youth Payment or who are enrolled in the NEET service. Our Youth Coaches can support you in the following ways:

  • Education, training and employment support

  • To access the right financial support for your living costs

Supporting young people to access the financial support they’re eligible for

 

 

Youth Payment (YP)

The Youth Payment helps with living costs for young people aged 16 - 17 years old, who are unable to live at home, and who’s parents can’t support them financially.

To be eligible to receive this payment, individuals must be:

  • 16 - 17 years old

  • Unable to live with parents 

  • Unable to be supported financially by their parents

  • Not be responsible for any children

​The amount that is received is dependent on the situation and rates can be found on the Work and Income website. 

Our Youth Coaches will work with individuals to get the education and skills needed to build a bright, independent future.

Young Parent Payment (YPP)

 

The Young Parent Payment helps with living costs for 16 - 19 year olds who are responsible for a child.

To be eligible for the Young Parent Payment, individuals must be:

  • Single or,

  • Married, in a civil union or in a de facto relationship, and not in a relationship with someone receiving another benefit from Work and Income.

Or individuals who are aged 16 - 17 have extra requirement to meet:

  • Living with parents and they qualify for family tax credits, or

  • Unable to live with parents, or get financial support from anyone.​

Other individuals that may be eligible are those supporting whānau like brothers, sisters or cousins.
