Lorraine Coulston (Service Manager 1.0FTE) is a local Wainuiomata resident and has a social work background having completed her Diploma of Social Work at Victoria University (DipSocWk). Lorraine joined Vibe in 2003 after working as a Guidance Counsellor for 5 years at Naenae College. Lorraine has worked in a variety of social service agencies as a co-ordinator, trainer and supervisor and is a full member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers. Lorraine is married to Rob and is mum to Trinity and Sam and grandma to beautiful Bryar.
Camina Chin (Community Youth Worker 1.0FTE) has been a Hutt citizen for most of her life and has been working with the Service since its inception in 1996 where she began as one of the original Peer Support Workers. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Victoria University and has completed thousands of hours of youth work, youth health, alcohol and other drug and sexual health professional development training (since 1996). Camina is a case manager for the social support team, managing her own case load as well as supervising the peer support workers working on support cases. She also participates in much of the health promotion and education work of Vibe. Camina toured Aotearoa schools for two years, making music with young people and was the Youth Development Officer for the Upper Hutt City Council in 2000. Camina has also represented a youth health perspective as a member of the executive of Health Care Aotearoa. Camina completed first year Te Reo Maori at Te Wananga o Raukawa in 2004 and is now also a Master NLP Practitioner and uses these skills as well as many others in helping young people to achieve their goals and overcome their challenges.
Fati Tagoai (Social Support Worker 1.0 FTE) is a local Timberlea boy and has a wide background in community activities in the Upper Hutt area, including his role as the rugby coordinator at Heretaunga College and his leadership role within his church youth group. Fati likes to workout at the gym especially enjoying attending spin classes. Fati is currently studying BA of Social Work at Massey University.
Juanita Kil (Referrals Coordinator 1.0 FTE) has been a "viber" since January 2007. She qualified as a Social Worker in 1995 and comes to the service with 10 years experience as a Social Worker in the Justice, Youth Justice and Education arenas and three years experience as a Career Consultant. Her employment history has been varied and she has done everything from selling encyclopaedias (badly and very short lived) to working as a laundry lady in a psychiatric geriatric home (not her finest moment…). Juanita is Vibe’s Referral Coordinator and handles the referral and allocation process for YTS and Social Support. She also case manages the Social Support Team and is the Te Wana facilitator for Vibe. Juanita lives by the sea and one day will work up the courage to go in further than her knees.
Gill Alcorn (Youth Health Nurse Specialist 1.0 FTE) has a background in youth health provision to young people in an education environment. She was previously employed for 11 years as a school nurse at a local secondary school and has gained her Masters of Nursing with a youth health focus. Gill has a clinical management role at the Vibe and coordinates and provides clinical practice at both our Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt sites. Gill has a strong commitment to her professional development, achieving Nurse Practitioner with a youth health focus status .in December 2005 This is an indication of Gill’s extensive knowledge and skill, and of Vibe’s cutting edge approach to youth development. Gill represents Vibe on a number of academic councils and is a member of the HVDHB Youth Steering Group.
Tui Reid (Operations Coordinator 1.0 FTE) joined the service in 2004. Tui has a background in administration and is currently involved in the fitness industry as a personal trainer. She is the mother of 3 children and has a real interest in anything to do with sport and fitness. Tui is a loyal netball fan and likes to relax by reading a good book.
Tia Minnoch-Singh ( Orongomai Marae & Epuni Primary Care Nurse) is a registered nurse who has been working in sexual and reproductive health for 7 years and more specifically as a youth health clinician since 2001 at Vibe. She is always challenged, amazed and increasingly interested in the development of young people, living in Aotearoa. Tia enjoys making connections and friendships with young people. This fuels her to providing a health service that promotes their well being and encourages positive life choices.
Dr Angannette Hall (Vibe General Practitioner) is joined Vibe in August 2005 in the role of Vibe GP. Angannete completed her training in Adolescent medicine in Totonto Canada, making her only the 3rd doctor with this specialty in New Zealand. Anganette provides support to the Vibe team by delivering clinics at both our Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt sites as well as sharing her wide knowledge base in the area of youth health with the Vibe clinical and support team.
Carolyn McIlraith (Vibe Counsellor) has 2 young daughters and a great husband. Carolyn loves taking her beautiful dog for walks and enjoys learning and experiencing new things. Carolyn has really enjoyed meeting and learning from the young people she meets who come into Vibe. Carolyn has a Diploma in Counselling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Sociology and is currently studying towards her counseling degree. Carolyn has been working with Vibe for 2 years.
Davina Smith (Vibe Primary Care Nurse) is a registered nurse who has worked in a variety of nursing fields for the past 10 years, she spent 3 1/2 years in the UK specialising in Sexual Health and HIV nursing. She returned to New Zealand in 2003 to have her child and came across our service and has been working with us ever since providing nursing care at our late night Thursday clinic which has proven extremely popular with Hutt young people
Maraea Horua (Youth Health Nurse, Wainuiomata High) is a recent graduate from Whitirea. Maraea is a Gemini who loves working with young people. Maraea is Maori and has three children. Her Interests include loving sport, especially indoor netball and touch. Maraea is also a keen supporter of rugby and league especially "Sonny Bill" !!!!
Annie Harcourt (Youth Health Nurse, Taita College Nurse) has been working as a nurse for ages and feels that working with young people is the best job ever, Annie is growing 2 of my own at home!! She used to play golf and spend lots of time in the garden but now spend lots of time with her sons’ sporting venues! Annie grew up in the Hutt Valley.
Jan Peek ( Youth Health Nurse, St Bernard's College) (wears a 'Shortland Street' badge) with particular expertise in supporting young men to feel confident and okay about getting advice, information and treatment about health stuff. Jan works hard to make a client's experience of the health clinic, positive. She works with young people in a way that supports them to make healthy choices and to take responsibility for their own health/hauora and to develop positive relationships within their family/whanau, peer group and the wider community.
Vipul Patel (Primary Care provider at St Bernards Clinic) is a Doctor who has been working at the St Bernards School since the first term of 2007. To make a positive contribution to optimizing the health of the future generation is a humbling experience. The process of life is one of learning, so it is gratifying to be working with a group of people where that this a paramount focus
