Health Services
We run clinics every day, Monday to Friday in Lower Hutt and on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Upper Hutt.
We make a few appointments per clinic, but mostly work on a “first in, first seen” basis. This sometimes means a bit of a wait in our ultra comfortable lounge – but also means you can drop in when you need to.
The Health Services Team is made up of our Youth Health Specialist Doctor, Annganette Hall, our General Practitioner Emily Cavana and our nurses Annie, Davina, Catherine and Tia and is lead by our Youth Health Nurses Specialist Gill Alcorn. Nurses and Doctors work alongside our Support Team VibeYouth Transition Team, families and other agencies for the best outcomes for you.
Vibe also manages four school-based health clinics situated in four secondary schools in the Hutt Valley area. These clinics provide general health services and health promotion, with each school receiving both Nurse and General Practitioner services.
Support Services
We have six Peer Support Workers; Winika, Henio, Gemma, Sale, Lonnie and Jay at our Centres who give information and advice on a huge range of health and well-being issues.
They are also the people you will see first when you visit either of our Centres.
We also have a comprehensive social support service that provides social work, group work, advocacy and individual support. Fati (Social & Community Worker) Camina (Community Youth Worker) and Juanita (Referrals Coordinator) work alongside the Peer Support Team to provide this service.
Education Services
We provide workshop based education services for groups of young people on issues relating to well-being and development.
While we obviously provide services ourselves, we also offer professional development training for professionals working with young people; doctors, nurses, social workers, youth workers, peer support workers, mental health workers and front line health workers etc.
Training is tailored to the groups needs and is broadly focused on ‘Youth Appropriate Practice’, including the values and attitudes we bring to practice, youth health issues, and access issues.
Camina (Community Youth Worker) is the person to talk to about education services and Lorraine (Service Manager) is the person to ask about our professional education work.
