About Us

The Hutt Valley Youth Health Trust was formed in April 1996, and began service delivery as the Hutt Valley Youth Health Service in October 1996. The Trust was the formulation of two community groups in Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt cities who were passionate about young people in their communities, and acutely aware of the complex issues relating to young people's health. Both groups thought they could respond to these issues by instigating a new type of service delivery.

In early 2005, as a result of the desire to remain youth friendly, the Hutt Valley Youth Health Service undertook a consultative process to look at options to "re brand". During this process, feedback from young people revealed that the name "Hutt Valley Youth Health Service" was perceived to be a barrier by many to accessing the service. Many didn't associate themselves as "youth" and were also confused by the use of the word "health". Following an extensive process, in April 2005 the Hutt Valley Youth Health Service became "Vibe".
